Frame Materials
Hawke Transit Frames are available in various materials with the standard frames manufactured in mild (carbon) steel, electro statically coated with vinyl based primer, suitable for overcoating with a finish to suit the installations environmental conditions. Alternatively, frames can be electro plated in various finishes. Frames are also manufactured in stainless steels Grades 304 and 316L and X style frames are also available in aluminium . For specialist applications, frames can be manufactured to suit customers specific requirements.
Marine/Offshore Insulation Requirements
IMO recommendations regarding cable penetrations are that such penetrations should be capable of restricting the effects of fire to the same degree as the deck or bulkhead through which they pass. Certain materials used in cable construction are good conductors of heat, and to restrict the temperature rise on the non-hazard side of a penetration to within class A60 prescribed limits, the following insulation requirements are necessary.
Petrochemical installations and offshore production platforms consist of areas where the potential fire load exceeds the A60 classification, such areas being denoted H (Hydrocarbon) areas. Equipment used in the construction of fire breaks in these situations must fulfill the requirements laid down by some of the leading oil companies and the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate. Hawke Transit Systems have been approved up to H0, H60 and H120 requirements, against the performance criteria for insulation and integrity as specified in the IMO document Resolutions A517 (XIII) and A754 (18).

For general use. A Hawke compression tool (catalogue No. 981) is required for use with all 'X' designated frames. All frame types are available with shrouded compression bolts if required. When ordering, omit the 'X' from the frame reference. |
Has a 60mm (2 3/8") wide flange and is available in the same materials and finishes as HMX frames. For overall dimensions of HMFX frames add 120mm (4 ¾") (allowance for flange) to those given for standard HMX frames. |
Has a removable end and allows the frame to be installed around existing cables and pipes. |
